Murder Investigation Launched Into Clontarf Man's Death

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in an apartment in Clontarf in Dublin on Wednesday.

The body of 50-year-old Finbar Dennehy was found in the Merchamp apartment complex on Seafield Road East on Wednesday.

It is understood that a friend of the dead man found the body covered and lying on a couch. It has also been revealed that his hands had been bound and a bag was tied over his head.

A post-mortem revealed that he had been violently assaulted and stabbed.

Mr Dennehy was a single man who had lived alone in the apartment complex for 20 years.

Gardaí are studying CCTV footage from the apartment building and conducting door-to-door enquiries. They have also urged anyone who was around the Merchamp apartment complex to contact them.
