Gardai Launch Investigation After A Man Is Falsely Imprisoned

Gardai in Dublin have launched an investigation after the false imprisonment of a man and a robbery last night.

The man, who is a store manager, was stopped by a number of men, one armed with a gun, as he made his way home in Lucan.

He was taken to his workplace where cash was taken.

He was released without injury, however his Nissan Quashqui was found burnt out in Fonthill retail park.

A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Mechanic Sentenced For Partner's Killing
A mechanic has been handed a seven year jail sentence for killing his partner. Bernard Curran, 53, of The Weir, Lucan, told the court that he had been trying to kill himself but Helen Donegan, grabbed the gun and it went off. Curran hid the mother of one's body and reported her missing.

Hungarian Woman In State Care Amid Allegations Of False Imprisonment
A 19-year-old Hungarian woman has been placed in State care after allegations she was falsely imprisoned. Gardaí have begun an investigation after they visited an address in Tyrrelstown, west Dublin. According to reports, the woman got in touch with relatives in Hungary, claiming she was being held against her will.
