Mechanic Sentenced For Partner's Killing

A mechanic has been handed a seven year jail sentence for killing his partner.

Bernard Curran, 53, of The Weir, Lucan, told the court that he had been trying to kill himself but Helen Donegan, grabbed the gun and it went off.

Curran hid the mother of one's body and reported her missing.

The father-of-two falsely aided her family in the search for her body.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Fline Gael Call For Full-time Limerick Garda Commissioner
Following the weekend's gang murder of an innocent man in Limerick, the Fine Gael Justice Spokesman has called for a full-time Assistant Garda Commissioner to be introduced in Limerick. TD Charlie Flanagan also called for tougher sentences to be implemented, and called for a minimum 25 year sentences for murder.

Dublin Man Confesses To Killing Partner
The Dublin man accused of killing his partner while on holiday in Spain has confessed to the murder at a Spanish court. The prosecution are seeking a 20-year sentence for the killing, which occurred three years ago in their holiday home near Alicante three years ago.

Body Of Man Suspected Of Killing Family Exhumed
Gardaí have exhumed the body of Alan Hawe, who was found dead along with his wife Clodagh and their children Liam, 13, Niall, 11, and Ryan, six, in their house in Co Cavan in August last year. Gardaí believe Mr Hawe killed his family before taking his own life at their home at Oakdene, Barconey, near Ballyjamesduff.
