Gardaí Investigate Cash-In-Transit Robbery

An investigation has been launched following the robbery of a cash-in-transit van on Monday morning at Blakestown in west Dublin.

The incident occurred shortly before 8am when two men approached the van armed with an iron bar and what is believed to be an imitation firearm and threatened a member of staff.

The armed robbery happened outside the Lidl supermarket in Blakestown Way and a significant sum – thought to be well over €10,000 – was taken.

The two men then made their escape with a cash box in a car, which was later recovered and has been taken for technical examination.

There were no injuries during the incident and gardai have not yet made any arrests.

This morning armed officers swarmed the area in a hunt for the suspects.

A notorious gang based in nearby Finglas have been responsible for a spate of cash-in-transit robberies in the capital this year.

Gardaí are continuing investigations into an attempted robbery in which a family was held hostage. The incident took place last night around 9.30pm, when a gang of four armed men entered a house in Co Kildare. The family of six were held overnight.

Four Arrested Over Cash-In-Transit Robbery
Three men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a cash-in-transit van in Dublin in February. The four, all aged in their 20s, were detained this morning and will be questioned about the incident which occurred on at St Mary’s Place in Dublin 7 on the morning of February 1st.

Garda Hunt Man Following Attempted Armed Robbery
Gardaí are searching for a man in connection with the attempted armed robbery of an Ulster Bank in Blackpool, County Cork. According to reports, a man entered the branch and produced a knife. He threatened staff with the knife and demanded cash. It is understood that a bank teller gave the man a special cash bundle containing a dye pack.

Gunman Arrested In Dublin
Gardai in Dublin have arrested a man after an attempted armed robbery of a pub in Chapelizod, early this morning. Officers were called to The Villager pub at around 1am. The man, armed with a shotgun, was demanding cash from the barman when two gardai entered. The gunman turned his weapon on one of the officers, who disarmed him and made an arrest.
