Suicide Charity Suspends Employee Over 'Financial Irregularities'

Following allegations of financial irregularities an employee of one of the country’s leading suicide charities has been suspended.

The Irish Association of Suicidology has launched an internal investigation, into “a suspected financial irregularity by an individual over a short period of time”

Following advice from lawyers and insurers, the association has also called in the gardaí.

In a statement, it said an employee had been suspended pending the completion of this investigation.

“Investigations are ongoing and we are precluded from discussing the matter further,” said Dr John Connolly, secretary of the association.

Translink Workers Reject Pay Offer
Translink NI workers have rejected a pay offer from the public transport company. Unite, GMB and SIPTU confirmed that their members has "decisively voted to reject as inadequate" a pay offer made by Translink management. Workers were offered a 5% pay increase and a non-consolidated one-off payment of £1,500 for the 2023-2024 financial year.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

Dept Of Agriculture Investigate Employee For Accessing Financial Records
The Irish Independent has learned that the Department of Agriculture has started an internal investigation after an employee was suspected of having accessed the financial records of some of the country's 130,000 farmers. The investigators are also working to determine if the employee passed the sensitive information to a third party.
