Teen Charged With €3m Arson

A 16-year-old has been charged with causing €3m worth of damage in an arson attack on an apartment complex in Cork.

The charge is in relation a to fire at two apartment buildings at Atkins Hall, Lee Road, in Cork on December 29th, 2010.

At Cork District Court, Garda Denis O’Sullivan gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court the teenager made no reply to the charge.

Inspector Mary King said the DPP had directed trial by indictment, and Judge Con O’Leary said he was refusing jurisdiction given the estimate of damage mentioned in the charge.

Gardaí did not object to bail and, Judge O’Leary remanded the juvenile on his bond to appear again at the court on July 13th.

Man In Court Charged With Nicola Collins Murder
A man in his 40s has appeared before Cork District Court charged with the murder of Nicola Collins. The body of the mother of three was found at a house in Pophams Road, Faranree, Cork in the early hours of Monday, 27 March. Gardaí investigating the murder arrested the suspect on Tuesday, 22 August.
