House Of Discovered Dead Woman Searched

A search on the house has begun after the discovery of a woman in Dublin street at the weekend.

Gardaí said they were continuing their investigation into the death of the woman whose body was found in a suitcase dumped on a Dublin street.

A flat in a terraced house on Aughrim Street in Stoneybatter in the north inner city is being examined by a forensic team this morning and gardaí were questioning residents and neighbours in connection with the murder.

The 26-year-old Rudo Mawer, a business student from Malawi, was discovered by a passerby on St David’s Terrace, Blackhorse Avenue, early on Sunday.

Officers believe the woman had been strangled or suffocated and her remains walked to the spot where she was dumped beside some wheelie bins.

She had a plastic bag over her head and was fully clothed when found in the hold-all bag.

The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bridewell Garda Station 01 6668200, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
