Man Seriously Assaulted In Carrick on Shannon
A man is in critical condition after being seriously assaulted in Carric on Shannon during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardaí at Carrick-on-Shannon said they were investigating the serious assault that occured at 3.30am on Sunday December 18 in the Townparks area of the town.
The injured man aged 30-years-old was found with serious injuries to his head and removed by ambulance to Sligo General Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The area has been sealed off for a technical examination.
Gardaí said they wish to appeal for witnesses to this assault or to anyone that may have been in the area between 12 midnight and 3.30a.m. to contact Carrick-on-Shannon on 071 - 9620021, the Garda Confidential Telephone line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

A teenager has seriously assaulted a young girl in County West Meath. Gardai in the Mullingar area of the county revealed today they are investigating a "serious assault" on a young female which occurred in the Ashe Road area of Mullingar on Sunday at approximately 3pm.

Man Seriously Injured In Road Accident
A pensioner remains in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in Waterford City yesterday. The 81-year-old man was struck by a 4a4 vehicle on the Cork Road at approximately 2.30pm. He is believed to be in a serious condition in Waterford Regional Hospital. Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Gardai have launched an investigation after a man was seriously assaulted in Galway on Sunday. The attack, between a number of youths, happened outside a fast food outlet on Shop Street at around 3.30am. The victim sustained a serious head injury and is believed to be in a critical condition at the University Hospital Galway.

A man is recovering in hospital after being viciously assaulted in Coolock, Dublin, on Thursday night. The victim was stabbed in the leg and had an unknown substance thrown in his face. The attack happened at the Northside Shopping Centre at around 8.50pm.
