Renewed Appeal Over Kildare Kidnap

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information in relation to an abduction and false imprisonment in Kildare.

At 9.30pm on the 4th April 2011, a number of armed men entered a private residence in Fennore, Co Kildare.

The wife of an official at An Post was taken from her home around 11pm, while the family, including two children, were held captive.

On the morning of the 5th April the An Post official was given instructions to drive to the GPO on O Connell St. A demand was made that the An Post official obtain a sum of money from the institution and await instructions.

During the course of the morning, Gardaí became aware of the incident and a comprehensive response team was put in place involving both local and national units.

Just after 9.15 am on the 5th April 2011 the woman released herself and contact was made with the Gardai. She was physically uninjured.

Persons with information are asked to contact Newbridge Garda Station.
