Appeal Launched Over Fatal Fire In Cork City
Gardai at Blackrock investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire at a house in Cork City have appealed to the public for their assistance.
The fire started at a house in Nutley Avenue, Mahon, in Cork City.
They are interested in talking to a number of possible witnesses who may be able to assist with the investigation. Two separate males were seen in the Rope Walk area of Blackrock, Cork between 2am and 3am on Sunday 24th April 2011. The first was wearing a hoodie-type top with the hood pulled over his head and the second was not wearing clothing on his upper body.
In addition Gardai would like to talk to a middle aged-couple seen walking on Nutley Road towards Ringmahon Road at approximately 3am on Sunday 24th April 2011.
Gardai would also like to talk to the driver/passenger(s) of a silver/light coloured Toyota Avensis estate which may have been a taxi or hackney and was seen in the Blackrock Road/Convent Avenue area at approximately 2.50am on Sunday 24th April 2011.
Gardai are also appealing to anyone who was at the scene of the fire and may have recorded footage on their mobile phone/camcorder to contact them.
Witnesses who were in the locations mentioned or who can assist with this investigation are asked to contact the Incident Room at Anglesea Street.

Pensioner Dies In House Fire
A man, 74, has died in a house fire in Rathcormac, County Cork. It is unclear how the fire began, however gardai say they are not treating it as suspicious. Fire crews arrived at the scene after they were alerted at approximately 7.45pm on Sunday evening.

Dublin Teenager Found 'Safe And Well'
A teenager who went missing from Dublin has been found "safe and well". Sean Costello, 15, went missing from Ballymun just after midnight on Sunday, 31 July. Gardai launched an appeal as they were concerned for his welfare. However, they have confirmed he has been found "safe and well". Gardai also thanked the public for their assistance.
