Two Dead In Separate Crashes

A man and woman have both died in separate road traffic collisions over the weekend.

In the first of the two incidents, a male driver died in Corascashel, Dowra, Co Cavan approximately 2.5miles outside Dowra on the Dowra to Glangevlin Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and was the only occupant of the car. He was removed to Navan Hospital where a post mortem was expected to take place on Monday.

Gardaí in Ballyconnell, County Cavan said they are investigating the crash, which occurred between 1.30am and 9.30am on Sunday.

The scene of the collision is closed at present to facilitate a forensic collision investigation. The road is likely to be opened later on Monday evening. Diversions are in place.

Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact Gardaí at Ballyconnel on 049 9525580 or any Garda Staion.

Meahwhile, Gardaí in Newcastle West, County Limerick are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at 8pm on Sunday night, at Mountplummer, Broadford, Co Limerick - the location is just outside Broadford village on the Broadford to Ashford Rd.

The collision involved a 4x4 and a pedestrian. The female pedestrian (60yrs) was pronounced dead at the scene. She was removed Limerick Regional Hospital where a post mortem will take place later today the 28th Feb 2011.

The scene of the collision was closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and it re-opened later last night.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Road Tragedies Blight Ireland
There has been a litany of fatal road accidents across Ireland with a man aged in his 60s being killed following a crash in Co Tyrone. The PSNI Police were called to the scene of the incident on the Gorticashel Road, Mountfield, outside Omagh, shortly after 4.30pm yesterday. They were responding to a report that a tractor had left the road.

Two Pedestrians Killed In Collisions On Tuesday
Two men have been killed in separate traffic collisions on Tuesday. Gardaí at Bundoran are investigating the first collision that occurred on Main Street Bundoran at approximately 12.10am in the early hours of Tuesday morning. In the incident an 18-year-old pedestrian was killed when he was struck by an articulated lorry.

Two Dead In Separate Collisions
Two people have died on Ireland's roads after traffic collisions in Dublin and Kilkenny in the last two days. In the latest incident, a male aged 19 was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a stationary vehicle. His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital.
