Garda Investigating Cause Of Fatal Collision On N20

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fatal road traffic collision this morning on the Cork - Limerick road.

A man has been pronounced dead following the collision involving a car and truck at approximately 10am at Annabella on the outskirts of Mallow in Co Cork on the N20 route.

According to reports the man was treated at the scene by emergency service but died before be could be transferred to Cork University Hospital.

A number of other people were treated at the scene, but there were no reports of serious injuries.

The road remains closed between Annabella and the Dromahane turnoff to facilitate a forensic examination.

Gardaí are working to establish the cause of the collision.

Man Leaves Scene Of Fatal Accident
A man has been arrested after fleeing from the scene of a fatal accident on County Cork in the early hours of this morning. Two men in their 20s were killed in a head on collision of two vehicles at approximately 2.45am this morning on the N25 at Caherulton, Castlemartyr, County Cork.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Man Dies In Cork Road Collision
A man has died after the van he was driving hit a tree in Cork this morning. The fatal collision occurred on the main Killarney to Mallow road at around 10am. The man, who was in his 50s, was driving a red Toyota Corolla van. Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them. The road remains closed and diversions are in place.

Two Dead In Separate Collisions
Two people have died on Ireland's roads after traffic collisions in Dublin and Kilkenny in the last two days. In the latest incident, a male aged 19 was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a stationary vehicle. His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital.
