Deadly Cavan Road Crash Probed

Two men have been killed following a road traffic collision near Virginia, Co Cavan.

The accident involving a car and a van occurred on the N3 near Lisduff, Virginia at 10.30pm on Wednesday.

The dead men were travelling in the van with the driver being in his late 20s and the passenger in his late 30s.

The driver of the car is a man in his 50s and was taken to Cavan General Hospital and has since been moved to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda. His condition is serious but not life threatening.

The collision is under investigation and road at the scene of the crash was earlier closed to facilitate the examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardai in Bailieboro investigating a fatal collision on the Tuesday in Cootehill have named the deceased as Nicola Roberts, 19-years-old, from Ballinagh, County Cavan. A man in his 60s has been seriously injured during a traffic collision in County Cavan. Gardai in the county said they are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N3 at Lavey, Stradone at approximately 7.45pm on Wednesday.

Woman Seriously Injured In Three-Car Accident
A woman has been seriously injured following a three-car collision on the N4 Dublin/Sligo Road. The crash occurred on the Edgeworth Road at approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday (7 January). The woman is currently being treated at Midland Regional Hospital. The main Dublin/Sligo Road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Teen Dies In Co Cavan Collision
A teenager has died in a collision in Co Cavan. The 18-year-old male was a passenger in the car which hit a ditch on the R188 at approximately 5.25pm on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were taken to Cavan General Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Further Road Tragedies Blight Ireland
The PSNI have appealed for information after a man died in a two-car collision in Londonderry. A black Skoda Octavia and black Ford Puma were involved in the incident, which was reported to police around 6.45pm on Tuesday. The collision happened on the Culmore road at the junction with the Springfield road near Derry.
