Man Charged Over TSB Tiger Robbery

A 29-year-old man is due in court in connection with a foiled tiger kidnapping and subsequent robbery in Dublin last Tuesday.

During the initial incident, an employee at the Permanent TSB branch in Dublin

was forced to take out money from her workplace and leave it near Broombridge train station.

It is believed the man had sent her a photograph of her boyfriend with a gun to his head to compel her.

However, two detective sergeants from Mountjoy on patrol arrived at the scene a short time later and saw the man drop a bag and try to escape.

The man, who is originally from Cabra in Dublin, was arrested that afternoon by detectives from Mountjoy, who also recovered the bag with €318,000 on the railway line at Broombridge.

He was arrested and questioned for five days at Mountjoy Garda Station. He has been charged with a number of offences including handling over €300,000.

He is due before Dublin District Court later this morning, but gardaí say the investigation is continuing.

He was released from detention yesterday, rearrested and charged with handling €318,000 of stolen money belonging to Permanent TSB.
