Gardaí Raids Target Organised Crime
More than 150 'flying squad' gardaí have carried out a number of searches today as part of an investigation into organised criminal gangs.
Over 20 premises, including homes and businesses, were searched in Dublin, Louth and Meath, with the majority of the searches taking place in the greater Dublin area.
Officers from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Organised Crime Unit, the Criminal Assets Bureau, the Garda National Drugs Unit, the Emergency Response Unit took part in the raids, along with local officers.
Documents and other items were seized, but no arrests were made.
Gardaí said that the operation was targeted and intelligence-led.
Speaking at Garda Headquarters, Deputy Commissioner Martin Callinan said: "These targeted searches are part of ongoing enforcement of the legislation relating to organised crime and our continuing investigations into the activities of organised criminal groups."

More than 80 garda officers are being assisted by the Criminal Assets Bureau, Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit, Garda Air Support and Officers from Revenue Custom and Excise.
