Man Arrested In Connection With Mayo Stabbing

A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a man in County Mayo in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing which occurred in the Kiltimagh area arrested a man in connection with the investigation yesterday evening.

The man in his mid-twenties was arrested in Kiltimagh and is currently detained at Swinford Garda Station.

In the incident, 24-year-old Frankie (Francis) Heneghan of Kinturk, Ballyheane, Castlebar, died after being stabbed on, or near, Main Street Rear, which is a laneway off the Main Street in Kiltimagh at approximately 12.45am on Wednesday.

Gardaí at Swinford are investigating the fatal attack, in which a number of people are believed to have been involved.

Shortly before the stabbing, gardaí had been called to deal with a public order incident in which a number of young people were involved, at Main Street.

The services of the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau have been involved in the investigation.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have been in this area between midnight and 1am on the morning in question, to contact the Gardaí at Swinford on 094 9252990, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Man Arrested Following Stabbing Incident
A man has taken to hospital after being stabbed in Co Wexford. The male, 34, was stabbed at a house on Grange Road at around 9.30pm on Thursday night. His condition is described as serious but stable. Gardai have arrested a 60-year-old man. He is currently being detained at New Ross Garda station.

Man Arrested Over €400,000 Cannabis Find
Cannabis with an estimated value of €400,000 has been seized in Co Donegal. Members of the Revenue and Gardaí uncovered the drugs during a search at Castlefin on Tuesday. Garda arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the find.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.
