Three Arrested In Cocaine Haul

A Co Meath drug haul has resulted in the arrest of three people and the recovery of a large quantity of drugs.

Gardaí from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Garda National Drugs Unit made the seizure and the arrests as part of a police operation yesterday.

A total of 6kg of cocaine valued at approximately €430,000 by Gardaí was recovered, following the search of a house at Donacarney.

Two men in their mid thirties were arrested during the find and are currently detained at Drogheda Garda Station under the Drug Trafficking Act.

In a follow up operation, a car was stopped nearby and a small amount of cocaine was seized.

Officers arrested a 33-year-old man at the scene and he is currently detained at Balbriggan Garda Station.

A Gardaí spokesman said the investigation was still ongoing.

Three Held In Dublin Cocaine Seizure
Three men have been arrested following the seizure of cocaine in Dublin. It is understood that 3.5kg of the drug, worth an estimated 250,000 euros, was discovered in Rathmines after being imported in cargo from Peru through Dublin Airport on Thursday. According to reports, the drugs had been sent by courier from Peru.

Man Arrested Over Cocaine And Ammunition Find
Gardaí in Co Louth have seized a quantity of cocaine and 9mm ammunition following the search of a car. Cocaine worth an estimated €50,000, and a small quantity of ammunition, was uncovered when garda searched the car at about 18:00 in Drogheda on Monday. Officers arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the find.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

New Powers Allow For Roadside Drug Testing
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross has announced the commencement of the drug driving provisions in the Road Traffic Act 2016. One of the key measures in the legislation provides for Preliminary Drug Testing, which will enable Gardaí to test motorists whom they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs at the roadside.

Customs Seize 120,000 Illegal Cigarettes
Cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €57,000 have been seized by customs officers at Cork Airport. Some 120,000 Marlboro cigarettes were discovered in 12 suitcases that had arrived on a flight from Wroclaw, Poland. Garda arrested two men, understood to be Polish nationals, in connection with the find.
