Phoenix Park Victim Was 'Stabbed'

The details of the post mortem conducted on the woman found dead yesterday in Phoenix Park have been released by Gardaí.

After the discovery of the woman's body on Thursday, a coroner's examination has found she died as a result of internal trauma caused by multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

The deceased was 4' 10", of medium build, with short brown hair described as not quite shoulder length and aged in her late 30s to early 40s approximately.

She was wearing a green/grey fleece zip-up jacket, a rugby type top with red and blue stripes and three quarter length pink leggings. Her toenails were painted with gold nail varnish.

She also wore a Saint Anthony type gold chain necklace tied with a piece of string, a silver cross and chain necklace and gold hoop type earrings described as 'Creole Type'.

A white scarf and black zip-up jacket were also found nearby, as was a black ladies bicycle.

Investigating officers are appealing to two people who initially found the body to contact them.

Any person who was in the general area in the days leading up to this discovery or who may use the area and may have seen anything unusual or suspicious are asked to contact the Garda incident room at Cabra Garda Station 01-666 7400, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Identity Of Bodies Probed
Gardaí in Clare are today attempting to identify the body of a man that was recovered from the sea at the Cliffs of Moher and may have been in the water for up to three weeks. The partially clothed body was spotted at around 6pm by two French tourists who were walking along the 700 foot high cliffs close to O'Brien's Tower.

Man's Body Found In Phoenix Park
Gardaí have reported the discovery of a man's body in Phoenix Park, Dublin. The body was found in a sleeping bag near the Wellington Monument at around 1.30am. It is believed that the man had suffered burn injuries.

Award Of €10,000 Offered Over Pheonix Park Victim
A €10,000 reward has gone on offer for information leading to the identification of the woman found stabbed to death in Phoenix Park last week. After a week of little progress in identifying the woman, the cash is being put up as gardaí continue their investigation.
