Women Killed In Separate Road Accidents

Two women have died as a result of separate road accidents over the weekend.

In the latest incident, a 23-year-old female was fatally injured when she lost control of the car she was driving and it collided with a ditch.

Gardaí at Kells are investigating the collision that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning on the M51 at Curleyland, Athboy, Co Meath.

She was the sole occupant of the car and her body was removed to Navan General Hospital. The collision happened at approximately 3.15am.

Diversions are in place as the road is closed pending a forensic examination.

In an earlier incident, a 25-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision near Athenry, Co.Galway.

The single car crash occurred on the Athenry to Galway road at 11.15 p.m on Saturday.

A female passenger in her 30s received minor injuries.

The road was closed at the scene to facilitate forensic collision investigators and re-opened at 10.00am the next day.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Man Dies In Blarney Road Crash
A man has been killed in a two vehicle road crash that occurred between Parkanna Cross Rd and Davis Cross on the Blarney to Bweeng Road at approximately 11.30am on Tuesday. The man in his 20's was fatally injured when his car collided with a lorry. He was the sole occupant of the car and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses After Cyclist Is Hit By Bus
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to an incident in which a cyclist was hit by a bus in south Dublin. According to gardaí, a 55-year-old woman was hit by a bus while cycling at about 21:40 on Burlington Road on Monday night. She is currently being treated at St Vincent's Hospital, where her condition is described as serious.

Man Dies After Car Hits Wall In Co Meath
A man has died after his car collided into a wall in Co Meath. The incident happened at around 4:55pm at Clownstown on the Dunshauhlin to Navan road yesterday, 07 April. The victim, aged in his 30's, was seriously injured and taken to Navan General Hospital. However, he was later pronounced dead.
