Cork Bookies Robbed
A bookmakers has been robbed in broad daylight, Gardaí have revealed today.
Co Cork officers in Douglas said they are seeking the publics' assistance in relation to the robbery, which occurred at Victor Chandler's Bookmakers Shop, West Douglas, Douglas Village, Cork, on Sunday morning.
A spokesman for Gardaí said: "At approximately 10.45am a man entered the premises and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash."
Gardaí are anxious to speak with anyone who may have been in the area between 9am and 11.30am and noticed a lone male acting suspiciously.
The male is described as wearing a beanie hat, dark coloured pants, a light coloured top, white runners and possibly carrying a rucksack.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Gardaí at Douglas on 021-4891115 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Man's Body Discovered At His Home In Co Cork
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man's body at a house in Douglas, Co Cork. It is understood that the body of a 66-year-old man was discovered in the hallway of his home, at Galway's Lane in Douglas, by his wife at about 8am this morning, Monday 02 July. Gardaí are treating the man's death as suspicious.

Mandate 'Disputes Committee' Meeting To Be Held Today
Trade union Mandate, which represents workers at supermarket chain Dunnes Stores, is to hold a special 'disputes committee' meeting in Dublin today. It is understood the meeting will be attended by shop stewards from across Ireland and will hold a vote on further proposed industrial action, in a dispute over pay, conditions and working hours.

Appeal For Witnesses To Crash
Another appeal has been launched in connection with the road crash that resulted in the death of a woman in Cork last week. Gardai at Douglas said they were making a further appeal over the fatal road traffic collision, which occurred on the November 14.

Cork Water Main Bursts
Several areas of Cork have been left without water, because of a burst mains, according to reports. It is understood that as many as 20,000 households and businesses are affected in areas such as Donnybrook, Monkstown and Douglas. It is not thought that the water supply will be restored until around 6pm.
