Murder Inquiry Launched In 'Body In Boot' Case

A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man's body in a car boot in Dublin.

The body was found in the boot of his silver BMW car which had crashed into a wall at St Joseph's Park, Finglas, on Sunday night.

The dead man has been named as David Sharkey, 28, with an address at Claremont Estate in Navan, Co. Meath.

It has emerged that gardaí in Finglas had stopped the BMW earlier in the evening to question the driver.

It is understood that it was found crashed shortly afterwards, after gardaí had pursued the car. The driver then fled the scene on foot and Mr Sharkey's body was found in the boot.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward. They are also searching for the driver of the BMW, who is described as being in his late 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall, with short dark hair. He also had a Dublin accent.

The Irish state pathologist is investigating the case.
