Man Dies In Navan Garda Station

An investigation has been launched into the death of a man at Navan Garda Station in Co Meath on Thursday night.

The 52-year-old, who was arrested yesterday for a public order offence, was found lying on the floor of a cell shortly after 10pm.

The man was said to have been in an intoxicated state taken into custody for public order reasons. Late last night, gardaí found that they could not rouse the man from sleep and medical assistance was called.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner Dr. John Lacey was consulted and the state Pathologist Dr. Marie Cassidy is expected to conduct a post-mortem later today.

The Garda Ombudsman Commission has launched an investigation into the incident.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Man Dies Fleeing Raid On Garda Officers Home
A man has died following a raid on the home of senior garda officers in Co Waterford. According to reports it is believed that the man was part of group who attacked the home of senior garda officer in Dungarvan on Thursday night.
