Donegal Garda Death 'Not Suspicious'

The funeral of a police officer who died while off duty in Co Donegal at the weekend is due to take place tomorrow.

Gardaí said today that they are not treating the death on Saturday as suspicious.

Enda Hughes, 29, was in Letterkenny celebrating a stag party. It is understood he fell twice during Friday evening.

His body was discovered in his hotel room the following morning.

"Nothing sinister is suspected. It was a tragic accident," said a Gardaí spokesman today.

Garda Hughes, who was based in Dundalk, will be buried on Tuesday near his family home in Co Mayo.

Garda Appeal For Information On Murder Of Derek Hutch
An investigation has been launched into the murder of Derek Coakley-Hutch at a halting site in Dublin on Saturday, 20 January. The 27-year-old is the fourth member of the Hutch family to be killed in two years. The other three are said to have been victims of a feud with the Kinahan family.

Man's Body Discovered In Waterford Flat
An investigation is underway following the discovery of a man's body in Waterford. According to reports, the body was found at 9.20am at a flat on Wellington Street today, 31 May. Gardaí attended the scene and the State Pathologist has been notified.

Around £210,000 Of Heroin Seized In Co Louth
Heroin worth an estimated street value of approximately £210,000 has been seized in County Louth. The seizure was made following a cross-border operation on Sunday, 21 August. Gardaí intercepted two UK registered cars on the M1 and discovered the drugs. Two men and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
