Death Toll Fear From New 'Dr Death' Ecstasy

Following the deaths of two young graduates, Gardaí are warning that a lethal new 'Doctor Death' ecstasy mix could cause more deaths.

A joint Gardaí and HSE alert was issued after it became clear that a consignment of the powdered substance was for sale on the streets of Cork.

The brown crystalline substance is known to contain MDMA ecstasy and PMMA. The combination has already led to fatalities across Europe and the US. It can cause high body temperatures and overheating, which can in turn lead to death.

Nicknamed 'Doctor Death', it is understood to have been the cause of the deaths of 22-year-old Michael Coleman from Ballinacourty, Co Waterford, and his friend Liam Coffey, also 22, from Cappoquin, Co Waterford, at the weekend.

Gardai yesterday arrested a man in his late 20s, who is suspected of being the main supplier of the drug to the Cork area
