Man Arrested Over Gangland Murder

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 50s in connection with the double gangland murder in Dublin's north inner city earlier this month.

The man was detained this morning in connection with the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Michael Cronin and 26-year-old James Moloney in the Summerhill area on January 7.

He is being questioned at Store Street Garda Station, where he can be held for up to 72 hours before he must be charged or released.

Five other people were arrested in connection with the shooting last week, but all were later released without charge.

The news comes following the release of further revelations surrounding the circumstances of a shooting incident last night. A 20-year-old man was shot dead and two others injured in the latest gangland-style gun attack in Dublin.

The three men were sitting in a car in the driveway of a house on Kilmartin Drive at the time of the shooting.

Gardaí say the dead man was shot in the upper body.

The two other men, both in their 20s, remain in a serious condition in Tallaght Hospital.

The scene of the shooting has been sealed off for technical examination and Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to contact them.
