Gardaí at Carrick on Suir are investigating the incident, which occurred in the early hours of this morning at a licensed firearms dealership in Cregg, Carrick on Suir, Co. Tipperary.

According to Gardaí, at approximately 1.30am four men were waiting outside the premises when the couple that owned the property returned home from a night out. At least one of the men lying in wait was armed with a gun.

The owners were taken into the house, which had two other occupants.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses, or anyone with information to offer in relation to the incident to contact Gardaí at Carrick on Suir or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Officers are particularly interested in locating the whereabouts of the car taken or any sightings of it.
