Armed Robbery In Laois Results In Two Arrests

Two men have been arrested following an armed robbery in Co Laois on Tuesday night.

Gardaí said two men carrying shotguns entered a filling station in Mountrath at around 10.10pm, and held up staff before getting away with an undisclosed sum of cash and quantity of "property".

Although there were no reports of injuries during the raid, staff were threatened and left shaken. After the robbery, the men fled in a waiting car.

Half an hour later gardaí intercepted their vehicle on the M7 at the Portlaoise exit. Two firearms and "some property" were recovered and two foreign nationals are now being detained at Portlaoise Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

Two Men Arrested Following Armed Robbery In Dublin
Gardai have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery at a petrol station in Dublin on Tuesday evening. The robbery occurred on the Stillorgan Road in Blackrock at around 6.30pm. The men, armed with a gun and a hammer, threatened staff and demanded money. They fled the scene with a sum of cash.

Gardaí are questioning two men in connection with an armed robbery on the outskirts of Galway city. The incident occurred last night at a petrol station on the Tuam Road. It is understood the men demanded cash from the till but were arrested by Gardaí as they attempted to flee the shop.

Firearm Found Following Cork Robbery
Gardai have discovered a firearm following a robbery at a house in Cork. The shotgun was found in a field near the home of a businessman at Gluntahaune during searches on Monday. Five men have been arrested and are currently being detained in custody. The weapon has been sent for forensic examination.

Men Sought Over Attempted Armed Bank Robbery
Gardaí have appealed for information about an attempted armed robbery of a bank in Dunboyne, Co Meath on Tuesday morning. It is understood that two masked men, believed to have been carrying firearms, entered a Bank of Ireland branch through its roof shortly after 9am. They threatened staff and demanded a safe inside the bank to be opened.

Gardaí Appeal For Information After Armed Post Office Robbery
Gardaí have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at Dún Laoghaire post office in Dublin this morning. Two men entered the post office, armed with what is believed to have been handguns, around 10.25am. They threatened staff before making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
