Fatal Crash Investigated

Gardaí at Askeaton are probing a fatal road traffic collision in Co Limerick.

The accident occurred at approximately 2.30am this morning on the N21 at Clogh, Rathkeale.

A car collided with a parked lorry and the car's front seat male passenger - who was 30 years of age - was fatally injured.

The male driver of the car was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

They were it's only two occupants.

A full technical examination of the road has taken place and it has since been re-opened.

Meanwhile, an overturned truck is causing traffic chaos on the N18 Ennis to Limerick road.

The Ennis-bound lane of the carriageway is blocked as a result of the accident at Setrights Cross.

The road is reduced to one lane and there are long traffic delays in the area, but there are no reports of any injuries.

Meanwhile, a special traffic plan is being put in place in Tullamore, Co Offaly, this week for the annual Fleadh Cheoil.

A quarter of a million people are expected to visit the town over the course of the weekend.
