Witness Appeal Following Fatal Road Traffic Collision In Co Longford

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Co Longford on Sunday, 17 July.

An 18-year-old male was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in, as a front seat passenger, collided with a tractor at approximately 11.50pm in Cloonart, Bornacoola. The man was pronounced dead at Mullingar Hospital.

The driver and the other two occupants of the car were also brought to Mullingar Hospital.

One of the passengers is in a serious condition and the driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions have been put in place via Roosky for traffic coming from Sligo, and Newtownforbes for traffic travelling from Dublin.

Finglas Gardaí Station Evacuated In Security Alert
Finglas Gardaí Station was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon, 24 October, in an emergency security operation. The alert began at 3pm when a member of the public arrived at Finglas Garda Station with a suspicious device recovered near his home. As a precaution Gardaí evacuated the building and put a cordon around the station.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Woman Killed After Collision With Truck
A driver has been killed after her car was in collision with an articulated truck. Gardaí are investigating the fatal road traffic collision on the N24 about 2km from Kilsheelan in Coounty Tipperary, at about 9.50pm yesterday. The woman, who is in her 20s, was killed when the car she was driving was in collision with an articulated truck.
