Three Bailed On City Shooting

Three men in their 20s have appeared in court this morning following the shooting of a 20-year-old man in the city earlier this week.

The victim is recovering in hospital after being shot in the stomach near Wheatfield Prison in Ballyfermot.

David Byrne, 26, from Raleigh Square in Crumlin was charged under Section 72 Of The Criminal Law Act which is assisting someone to commit an arrestable offence.

Also, 21-year-old Adam Griffiths from Rafters Road in Drimnagh was charged under Section 112 Of The Road Traffic Act being a driver of a stolen car.

At the same time, Eugene Cullen, 25, of Sundale Villas in Tallaght was also charged under Section 112 of the Road Traffic Act.

Shortly after the shooting, Gardai arrested five men in their 20s and 30s, with just three of them brought before Bridewell District Court this morning as the other two were released without charge.

The three men charged were given bail and are to appear in Cloverhill court on 14 August.

On-Duty Firefighter Arrested On Suspicion Of Drink Driving
A fireman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving while on duty behind the wheel of a fire engine. The man was driving a fire truck on the Callan Road, Kilkenny over the weekend and approached a checkpoint. It is believed he was returning from an emergency incident and failed a breath test. He was issued a fixed charged penalty notice.

Three Charged In Connection With Fatal Shooting In Murroe
Three men have appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Murroe last weekend. The men, aged 49, 48 and 25, were arrested after a 51-year-old man was killed in a shooting at Mountfune, Murroe, Co Limerick, on Saturday, 20 June.

Fianna Fáil TD Charlie O’Connor, who is a member of the South Dublin County Joint Policing Committee, has welcomed the activation of a CCTV scheme in Tallaght, yesterday. Tallaght is the largest town in county Dublin outside the capital city centre.

Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.
