Teen Bites Ear Of Man, 60, During Burglary

A teenager has appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court charged in connection with a robbery and assault on Saturday morning.

The 16-year-old boy was charged with the robbery of a house in St Jude's Avenue, Ballysimon at about 3am.

The 62-year-old male occupant arrived home around 3am on Saturday and was challenged by the teen intruder who then assaulted him.

It is believed the victim's ear was bitten during the attack and he later required 26 stitches to his head at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.

The teen was remanded in custody to St Patrick's Institute to appear before Limerick Juvenile Court on Tuesday.

Investigation Launched After Teen Shot In Limerick
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a teenager was shot in Limerick on Thursday morning. The 17-year-old was shot in the thigh on the Upper Carey's Road at around 10.40am, according to gardaí. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made.
