Man Pleads 'Not Guilty' To Murder Of Chess Mate

A Lithuanian man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of killing his chess partner in 2005.

Rimantas Padimanskis, 44, of Lios Cian, Swords, Co Dublin made the plea of not guilty at Dublin Criminal Court to the manslaughter of Darijus Onusaitis on November 15, 2005 by stabbing.

The court has heard that the man allegedly killed his fellow countryman after they spent the day drinking and playing chess together, and is now into day-four, with legal argument in the absence of the jury.

The jury of nine men and three women will return to court for the hearing before Judge Tony Hunt, when the legal argument concludes.
