Fathers' Rights Protestors Scale M50 Toll Plaza

Three men have (literally) mounted a protest on top of the M50 toll plaza in Dublin calling for better rights for unmarried fathers.

The protest began just after 6am on Thursday and gardaí are currently at the scene trying to coax the men down.

The protest is reminiscent of similar protests conducted by British lobbyist group Fathers 4 Justice founded by Matt O'Connor, a marketing consultant and father. O'Connor had become incensed with family law after a court barred him from seeing his young sons outside of a contact centre.

The group is well known for its high profile protest stunts.

The Irish demonstrators are vowing to remain on top of the toll plaza until an official from the Department of Justice agrees to meet them.
