'Dangerous' Equipment Stolen In Dundalk

Gardaí have issued a warning after "dangerous" equipment was stolen from a van in Co Louth earlier this week.

It is understood a "handheld x-ray fluorescent metal analyser" was taken from a van that was at the Crowne Plaza Hotel car park in Dundalk. The item was stolen at some stage between 10pm on Wednesday and 9am on Thursday.

The equipment is used primarily in the construction industry to measure the density of metal in objects, but gardaí have warned that the device "emits radiation, is dangerous and should only be used by trained personnel."

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to contact Gardaí.
