Court Appearance Follows Fatal Shooting

Following a gardaí investigation into a recent fatal shooting incident, two men and one woman have been in court.

They were initially arrested as part of the investigation into the death of Darren McGrath in Co Cavan, and have now appeared at a special sitting of Cavan District Court, where they had their period of detention extended by a further period of 24 hours.

As part of the investigation a further arrest was also made yesterday evening, with the man, who is in his 30's, detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act at Monaghan Garda Station.

The Fatal Shooting of Darren McGrath in Belturbet was earlier this month and happened at approximately 5am in the Kilconny Estate, Belturbet, Co. Cavan.

The police initially appealed for anyone who was in the area of the Kilconny Estate in the early hours of the 20th may to contact Gardaí at Ballyconnell.

Meanwhile, an alleged hijacking incident has seen two men appearing at Athlone District Court, charged in connection with the hijacking of a taxi on the 12th of January last year.

The police said that the taxi driver picked up two men at about 2.15am on that date in Mullingar, and that he was subsequently seriously assaulted and thrown from the taxi.

The two men then drove off in the car in the direction of Castlepollard.

As part of the Garda investigation into the incident two men were arrested, one aged 26 and the other 33 years.

There were questioned in relation to the incident and subsequently charged.

At approximately 9.30pm last night, Gardaí observed a black Audi estate car with a partial registration number 151 G driving at speed through Monasterevin over the draw bridge, Main Street and on towards the Kildare Road.

Two Men Arrested Over Dublin Shooting Incident
Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Dublin on Tuesday night. At approximately 11.30pm Gardai received a report of a firearm been discharged at a house on Inverness Road in Fairview. On arrival it was discovered that a shot had been fired at an upstairs bedroom window.
