Dublin Taxi Driver Killing Probed

Gardaí are on the hunt for a man and a woman in connection with the stabbing of a taxi driver in Dublin.

The attack took place in Fortlawn Avenue in Blanchardstown shortly after 10.00pm on Tuesday.

Gardaí believe the taxi driver, aged 30 from Dulek in Co Meath, picked up a man and a woman at the address that was known to him, and that the victim’s partner and a toddler were also in the car at the time.

According to reports, a row broke out in the vehicle and the taxi driver fled and was pursued by the couple that stabbed him several times, including in the neck.

The driver then stumbled around the street before collapsing in the driveway of a nearby house.

Gardaí believe the attack was not connected to the non-payment of the taxi fare.

The man and woman were then seen running from the scene before gardaí arrived.

State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy was called in as the body remained at the scene overnight while the Garda Technical Bureau carry out a detailed forensic search of the area later today.

Neighbours on the road described how the man had staggered from his silver Toyota Avensis for about 100 metres, before collapsing in the driveway where he died.

One shocked neighbour said: “I came out and heard a woman screaming.

"I saw the man running down the road with blood dripping off him. He collapsed in a garden at the end of the road.

“I saw a man and a woman running off.”
