Donegal Shooting Investigated

Gardaí in Donegal have launched an investigation after a man was shot in St Johnston on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at the man's home in Carrickmore Street around 9:30pm. Three armed and masked men burst into the house and attacked the man with what is believed to have been an air rifle. It is understood that the men were also armed with handguns and a pickaxe handle.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to Letterkenny Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two other men and a woman were in the house at the time of the attack, but they were not injured.

A white Vauxhall Cavalier car, which was used by the attackers to flee the scene, was later found burnt out on the main Letterkenny to Lifford Road.

Gardaí have said that they are keeping an open mind about the attack and have asked anyone who saw the car between 9:30pm and 10pm last night to contact them.

Forensic searches are being carried out at the crime scene and where the car was found.

The other two men were released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding their detentions.

Body Of Man Discovered In Dublin
A man's body has been discovered in Dublin. The body of the man, believed to be in his 30s, has not yet been formally identified, according to garda. The discovery was made between O'Connell Bridge and College Green at about 7.20am on Sunday. A post-mortem is expected to be carried out. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Man Injured In Shooting In Bray, Co Wicklow
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man was shot in Bray, Co Wicklow, on Thursday evening. The man, believed to be in his 20s, is currently being treated at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin. He is believed to have been shot in the People's Park in Bray at around 5.30pm. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Dublin Man Dies After Falling From A Balcony In Italy
An Irish man has reportedly died after falling from a balcony in Italy. The 24-year-old, believed to be from Dublin, is thought to have fallen from a balcony at an apartment in the municipality of Naples. The man was living in the city and working as a teacher. The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to his family.

Woman's Body Found At House In Co Meath
Gardaí in Co Meath have discovered the body of a woman at a house in Longwood. According to gardaí they discovered the woman's body at around 17:00 on Monday at a house in Edgeworth Court. An injured man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was also found at the scene and is being treated at Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar.
