Deadly Road Toll Rises

Road crashes have again claimed lives with news that two people died in separate road accidents in Co Kildare and Co Tipperary.

A 51-year-old man died in hospital in the early hours of this morning after he was knocked down and fatally injured by a car in Carbury, Co Kildare, at around 8.30pm last night.

The road where the accident occurred was closed to traffic until around after midday today.

Meanwhile, in Co Tipperary, one person has been confirmed dead after a multi-vehicle pile-up on the N62 between Roscrea and Templemore.

Several others were injured in the crash, which involved two trucks and seven cars.

Gardaí say the road is likely to remain closed for most of the day.

Woman Dies In Co Limerick Road Crash
A woman has died and a man is in a critical condition in hospital following a road crash in Co Limerick this morning. The single-vehicle collision happened just before 7am on the main Limerick to Tipperary road near Pallasgreen. The woman, who was in her 20s and from Limerick city, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Man Dies In Co Kildare Road Crash
A 35-year-old man has been killed in a single-vehicle collision in Co Kildare. The crash, which injured two other men, happened on the Clane to Kilcock Road at around 9.25am on Sunday. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men travelling in the car, understood to be aged 24 and 49, are being treated at Tallaght Hospital.

Three Killed In Weekend Wreckages
Three people have been killed following a series of separate road accidents over the weekend. Gardai are investigating a fatal collision at Dowagh Cross, Claremorris in Co. Mayo. The collision occurred at 1.20 am on Sunday morning.

Weekend Road Carnage
The Road Safety Authority has called for road users to exercise extra caution on the roads following this weekend's road carnage. Seven people have died in three separate accidents on Irish roads since Friday. Three men and one woman were killed in a two-car collision in Co Laois.

Coach Overturns As Crash Victims Named
Up to nine people have been hospitalised following an incident in which a bus was overturned at Skeheenaranky, Co Tipperary this morning. The Air Coach was traveling from Dublin to Cork with around a dozen passengers. Initial reports claim there are no serious injuries. The N8 Cahir to Mitchelstown Road is blocked as Gardaí deal with the incident.
