Dublin Bomb Alert Cleared

A suspected 'bomb' found in Dublin last night has been removed and taken for tests to be carried out.

Gardaí are at present describing the item as a suspect device and said it was found in the driveway of a house in Dublin.

The discovery was made on Kilmahuddrick Road in Clondalkin at 10.45pm last night.

The operation involved the house and neighbouring dwellings being evacuated.

No-one was injured.

Man Dies In Overnight Road Crash
A man has died when his car collided with a van on the Rathbeale road in Swords, Dublin, around 02.30am on Wednesday morning. The man in his 40s was a passenger in the van. He died at the scene. The driver of the van and a second passenger are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Bodies Found At Dublin Home After Suspected Gas Leak
The bodies of a man and a woman have been discovered in a house in Dublin today. The remains, aged in their 60s, were found at Drumalee Court at approximately 1pm this afternoon. It is believed there may have been a gas leak. The bodies remain at the scene and a State pathologist has been notified.

70-Year-Old Woman Arrested Over Clondalkin Stabbing
A woman aged in her 70s has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of an elderly man in Clondalkin, Dublin. The 75-year-old man was found lying on the road outside his home on Monksfield Downs at about 18:00 on Monday. He had suffered a stab wound to the chest. The man remains in Tallaght Hospital.

Michael Barry Acquitted In Toyosi Murder Case
A judge has directed the acquittal that Dublin man, Michael Barry, is to be acquitted of a murder charge of Toyosi Shittabey in April 2010. 15 year old Toyosi was stabbed on Good Friday following an argument between a group of friends and the Barry brothers.
