Thirty Premises Raided In Dublin

Gardaí and customs officers have carried out raids on 30 premises, including homes, car sales showrooms, accountants and solicitors offices, as part of an investigation into the motor trade.

It is understood that the raids, part of a joint garda/customs operation, which was coordinated by the Criminal Assets Bureau, were part of a criminal investigation into tax irregularities in the trade.

The searches were carried out between 6am and 9am on Wednesday morning. A man in his 50s was arrested and is currently being held at Blanchardstown garda station.

It is understood that around 40 luxury cars have been impounded as part of the investigation and that a 9mm handgun was found in a warehouse during the search operation.
