Father And Son Die in Donegal Fishing Tragedy

A father and son have been killed in a fishing tragedy in Co Donegal.

It is understood that the two men - one believed to be in his 40s and the other aged 19 and both from Inver Port - left Killibegs harbour in a 20ft open deck lobster boat to check on pots on Monday.

A search and rescue operation was launched by the coast guard around 12.30pm when a flare was spotted by a passer-by.

The men, who were thrown from their boat in the heavy seas, were rescued around an hour later.

Both were taken to hospital, suffering from severe hypothermia, but they died later.
