Weapons Seizure Pair Due In Cork Court

There was tight security today at Cork Circuit Criminal Court in advance of the appearance of two men charged in connection with an extensive arms haul in the town last April.

Glen Geasley, 26, from Innishmore Drive in Ballincollig and Sean Callinan, 21, from Pearse Park, Tullamore, Co Offaly, are expected to be set a trial date.

The charges against the men relate to the seizure of weaponry including two RPG rocket launchers, assault rifles, machine guns and pistols.

Two Charged Over Cork Assault
Two men have been arrested in connection with a serious assault on a businessman at a Cork industrial estate on Tuesday. A man returning to his business at Churchfield Industrial Estate at about 16:45 on Tuesday was approached by two men, who demanded money. Following a struggle, the 30-year-old man was left with serious injuries.

British Men Remanded Over €500M Cocaine Seizure
The three British men charged in connection with a €500 million cocaine seizure off the coast of West Cork have been remanded in continuing custody after Thursday's court appearance. Philip Doo, 52, Christopher Wiggins, 42, and David Mufford, 44 were in Kinsale District Court this morning facing charges under the Drugs Trafficking Act.

Man To Be Charged With Herbal Cannabis Seizure
A man is to appear in court in connection with the seizure of 60kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.2m. The drugs were found inside a Northern Ireland registered trailer that had arrived into Rosslare on a ferry from Cherbourg. Two men, both in their 20s and from the north, were arrested.
