Blaze At Drogheda Apartments

Around 60 people had to be evacuated from an apartment complex in Drogheda, Co Louth after a fire broke out in the early hours of Friday morning.

Seven fire brigade units tackled the fire, which broke out around 2am at the Mill Wharf apartment block in the North Quay area.

A fire officer received treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation

Five cars were also destroyed in the fire, while four others were badly damaged.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.

An apartment complex in Dublin had to be evacuated in Dublin on Thursday morning after fire broke out in the building. The fire broke out in the apartment in the Castlegate Grove complex started around 5:30am this morning.

Woman Dies In Limerick House Fire
A woman has died in a house fire in Limerick. The fire broke out at the house in Daly Avenue at around midnight. The woman, aged 47, was the only person in the property. She was taken to University Hospital Limerick where she was pronounced dead. Gardai are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Dublin Fire Brigade has revealed it responded to 1,100 emergency calls during Halloween night. On what is normally the service's busiest night of the year, there were also reports of attacks on fire crews while Dublin Bus was forced to withdraw its service in part of the city.

Trade union SIPTU have launched a public awareness campaign over serious staff shortages in Dublin Fire Brigade and the risk this poses to working firefighters.
