Funerals Held For Bray Firefighters

The funerals of the two firefighters who died last week in Bray take place today and tomorrow.

Mark O'Shaughnessy's funeral mass took place this morning and his body will be laid to rest at Springfield Cemetery in Bray.

His colleague Brian Murray's remains will be brought later today at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Bray. Requiem Mass will take place tomorrow morning at 11am.

Both Mr O'Shaughnessy (26) and Mr Murray (46), a father of 13, died while tackling a blaze at a disused factory on the Lower Dargle Road in Bray, Co Wicklow last Wednesday.

Both men became trapped when the roof of the factory collapsed. A third firefighter was also injured in the fire.

Three separate investigations into the fatal incident have been launched by the Garda Síochána, the Health and Safety Authority and Wicklow County Council.

The two men are the first firefighters to be killed in the Republic since 1936.
