Memorial Underway For Bray Firemen

The families of the two firefighters who died in a blaze in Co Wicklow last year are holding a memorial service today (Friday) to mark the first anniversary of the tragedy.

Brian Murray, 46, and Mark O'Shaughnessy, 26, died when the roof of a disused industrial building in Bray collapsed while they were tackling a fire in the structure.

Both men were part-time firefighters.

Their families plan to mark the anniversary today with a special service at the site of the blaze, while a mass will also be held at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Bray tomorrow.

Gardaí and the HSA are presently investigating the tragic incident.

Last week, Gardaí at Bray arrested a male in his 40s in connection with the fire. He was later released without charge and a file will is being prepared for the DPP.
