Man In Court Over Clontarf Murder

A 41-year-old man is due in court this afternoon charged in connection with the murder of Finbar Dennehy.

Mr Dennehy, 50, was found dead in his apartment last Wednesday stabbed to death in Clontarf, Dublin.

The suspect has been in police custody since Saturday night when he was arrested by Gardai at a guesthouse in Dublin city centre at around 8pm.

It is believed Gardaí located the man after they traced a credit card in the deceased's name used at the bed and breakfast.

It is understood Mr Dennehy had been dead for several days before his body was found in his apartment on Seafield Road East around 2:30pm last Wednesday afternoon.

The body was found covered and lying on a couch; his hands were tied and a bag was over his head.

Post-mortem examinations revealed he died of a single stab wound.
