Five Injured In Limerick Road Collision

Five people, including two children, have been injured in a traffic collision in Limerick.

The incident happened at Rourke's Cross on the main Limerick to Charleville Road around 5:30pm on Thursday.

Two cars collided and one of the cars spun out of control, hitting a woman and two children who were walking along the road. The woman and a seven-year-old boy are both believed to be seriously injured, while the other child's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. All are being treated in Limerick's Mid Western Regional Hospital.

The two male drivers of each vehicle were also taken to hospital. Their injuries are also not believed to be life threatening.

Investigation Launched Following Bone Discovery In Co Clare
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a bone in Co Clare. A bone was found on Thursday, 22 September, on the Shannon riverbank at Doonass, Clonlara, on the Clare-Limerick border. Gardaí were called to the scene and are understood to have examined and photographed the scene before the bone was removed.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

Limerick Tunnel Opens
Taoiseach Brian Cowen will open the long awaited Limerick Tunnel today at 1pm. The route now cuts under the River Shannon and links Coonagh on the northern bank with Bunlicky on the southern bank. There are two toll plazas located on the north side of the river and it will cost €1.

Man Seriously Injured In Co Clare Crash
A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a road crash in Co Clare. The collision happened on the Ennis to Kilrush Road at around 9am on Monday, 06 August. The man was the only person in the vehicle. He is believed to be in a serious condition in Limerick University Hospital.

Woman's Body Discovered In Ennis
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a woman's body in Ennis early today, Tuesday 04 February. The body was found at about 6am this morning by a passer-by on a walkway alongside the River Fergus. It is understood that garda do not believe the woman's death to be suspicious "at this stage".
