Laois Murder Investigation - Woman Released

A woman arrested in connection with the murder of Co. Laois man Patrick Burke earlier this month has been released without charge.

Mr Burke was found dead in a downstairs bedroom in his home in Ballybrittas shortly before 11pm on August 19 after Gardai were called to the house.

A post-mortem examination revealed that he died from multiple blows to the head.

The woman, who was arrested in the Portlaoise area on Tuesday morning, was released on Tuesday night after questioning.

The detention period of a 38 year-old Irish woman arrested on suspicion of terrorist offences has been extended by a further 24 hours. The woman was arrested on Sunday 01 December at Dublin Airport following her deportation from Turkey.

Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Dublin
An elderly woman who was hit by a car in Dublin has died in hospital. The incident occurred on the Navan Road at around 8.15am on Sunday, 04 September. The driver of the car was arrested and taken to Finglas Garda Station. He has been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Two Injured In Separate Stabbing Incidents
Two men have been injured in separate stabbing attacks in Dublin last night. A man in his 40's was stabbed in Balbriggan, but his condition is not believed to be life threatening. A woman was arrested and taken to Coolock Garda Station for questioning. She has since bee released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
