Family Calls For Garda Murder Inquiry
The Garda Representative Association has called for an inquiry into the murder of a garda in 1970.
Armed men killed garda Richard Fallon during a bank raid at Arran Quay in Dublin and Mr Fallon’s family are seeking a public inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his murder.
Three men were brought to trial but were acquitted and no one has been held responsible for the murder.
Mr Fallon’s son Finian, in a recent statement, accused the Government of covering up circumstances surrounding his father’s death.
It is believed that members of a group known as Saor Eire carried out the raid.
Mr Fallon was married with five children and his son Finian has called on Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan to initiate an inquiry.
Following his death, Richard Fallon was awarded the Gold Scott Medal for bravery posthumously.

Murder Inquiry Follows Dublin Attack
A murder investigation has been launched after a 22-year-old man died in hospital as a result of an attack over the weekend. Gardaí in Clontarf, Dublin, have begun the now murder inquiry after Barry Walsh who was from Castleknock was chased and beaten in the early hours of Sunday morning at Marino Mart.

Service Station Shooting Now Murder Investigation
The investigation into a shooting incident a CO Mayo service station has been upgraded to a murder inquiry following the death of the victim on Thursday night. Owen Maughan (29) was shoot a number of times in an attack at a service station in Castlebar on Thursday afternoon. He was taken to Mayo General Hospital but died from his injuries.

Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for information over its investigation into the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe on the fifth anniversary of his death. Detective Donohoe was fatally shot during an armed robbery on 25 January, 2013.
