Service Station Shooting Now Murder Investigation

The investigation into a shooting incident a CO Mayo service station has been upgraded to a murder inquiry following the death of the victim on Thursday night.

Owen Maughan (29) was shoot a number of times in an attack at a service station in Castlebar on Thursday afternoon.

He was taken to Mayo General Hospital but died from his injuries.

Gardaí believe that the shooting is connected to an ongoing feud.

A brother of Mr Maughan was injured in a shooting at the same service station earlier this year.

Man Killed In Co Mayo Shooting
A man has died in a shooting incident in Co Mayo, Gardaí have reported. The victim has been named as 29-year-old Owen Maughan. Garda said he was shot a number of times in the back at a service station at Moneen in Castlebar at around 3.30pm. Mr Maughan died a short time later at Mayo General Hospital.

Gardai Probe Shooting Incident In County Mayo
Gardai at Castlebar are investigating the circumstances of a shooting incident which occurred yesterday in County Mayo. Around 6.30pm a middle-aged woman was seriously injured when she was shot by a lone gunman at a shop on Main Street in Balla. She was taken by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital.

Teenager And Young Child Injured In Alleged Shooting In West Dublin
An investigation has been launched into an alleged shooting incident in West Dublin. According to reports, a teenager and a young child have been injured in an incident that gardaí have said is "ongoing" in the Parlickstown area of Blanchardstown. The area has been sealed off and gardaí are at the scene. Further updates to follow.

Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.
